Commercial Kitchen Layout Design

Most kitchens that fail operationally were lost at the layout stage. We plan the equipment against the menu, the cover count and the actual shape of the room — including the columns, the beam soffits and the door swings that a generic layout ignores — and we mark every utility point before a single item is fabricated.

How it works

The process

Each stage produces something you can review before the next one begins — which is what keeps surprises off the site.

  1. Brief and site survey

We record the room as built: dimensions, columns, beam heights, existing utility positions, door and lift apertures. We take your menu, cover count and shift pattern as the design inputs.

  2. Workflow zoning

Receiving, storage, preparation, cooking, plating, wash-up and waste are zoned so material moves in one direction and soiled routes never cross clean ones.

  3. General arrangement drawing

A scaled GA showing every item in position with clearances, working aisles and access routes. This is where changes are cheap, so we expect a round or two of comment.

  4. Utility and services drawing

Gas points with load, electrical points with rating and phase, water inlets, drainage falls, trap positions and exhaust routing — issued to your MEP contractor as a coordinated set.

  5. Fabrication drawings

Once the GA is approved, each fabricated item is detailed for manufacture with confirmed dimensions and finishes.

  6. Site coordination

We stay involved through civil and MEP execution so that what gets built matches what was drawn, and we resolve clashes before equipment arrives.

Why it matters

What you get out of it

Bottlenecks found on paper

The queue at the pass, the aisle that is 200 mm too narrow, the door that fouls the range — these cost nothing to fix on a drawing and a great deal to fix after tiling.

Utilities right the first time

Gas and electrical points marked before the civil work means no chasing walls after handover and no extension leads running across a wet floor.

Equipment that fits

Because we fabricate to the drawing rather than to a catalogue, awkward corners and non-standard runs are used properly instead of being lost.

One accountable party

The people who drew the kitchen are the people who make and install it, so there is no gap between the design intent and what arrives on site.
